Proposed changes to Ch 47 Zoning Code 2026 These proposed amendments are to clarify the permitting process for unclassified uses and amend the definition of private solar energy generating system. These will be discussed at a public hearing held on March 16, 2026 at 6:00 P.M. at the Monroe County Justice Center Monroe County Board Assembly Room 1st Floor - Room #1200, 210 W Oak Street, Sparta, WI 54656. Any person may appear, in person by his/her agent or attorney, to give testimony for or against this matter.

- Shoreland Zoning Permit Application – Please contact the Zoning Department for instructions if removing vegetation within 35′ of a water body or if installing a stream crossing. These activities have special requirements.
- Floodplain Land Use Permit Application -This permit must be obtained before starting any work in a Floodplain including filling, grating and material removal.
- Conditional Use Permit Application – Please contact the Zoning Department for application if applying for a non-metallic mine or a cell tower.
