Vital Records Now Issued Statewide
Birth, marriage, death and divorce records are easier to obtain in Monroe County. Statewide issuance of vital records became effective January 3, 2017.
Statewide issuance of vital records allows any Register of Deeds office in the State of Wisconsin to issue records of birth, death, marriage and divorce from all Wisconsin counties.
Statewide issuance allows the Register of Deeds to provide a simpler and more efficient method of serving our customers.
Not all vital records will be eligible for statewide issuance. Some special service records are excluded. Records included for statewide issuance and dates are as follows:
- Birth Records: October 1, 1907 to present
- Death Records: September 1, 2013 to present
- Marriage Records: October 1, 1907 to present
- Divorce Records: January 1, 2016 to present
- Tribal Marriage and Divorce: January 1, 2016 to present
All records that do not fall within the parameters above can be obtained by the County Register of Deeds where the event occurred or by the State Vital Records Office.
The State Vital Records Office is working with Register of Deeds offices around the State to develop a process for loading specific vital records on demand until all historic records are converted.
