COUNTY HIGHWAY PC TO BE CLOSED FOR RECONSTRUCTION

 

County Trunk Highway (CTH) PC in the Town of Portland in Monroe County between the Vernon County line, north of State Trunk Highway (STH) 27 and the townsite of Newry, and STH 33 west of the Village of Cashton, will be closed beginning Monday, April 06th for reconstruction.  The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of October.

Advance notice signs will be posted.  No formal detour will be established. 

Local residents and property owners will have access to their homes throughout the duration of the project and emergency response vehicles will always be readily accommodated.

The project will include excavation, grading, intersection realignment, crushed base aggregate, Hot Mix Asphalt pavement, concrete curb & gutter, culvert installation, stormwater management, temporary and permanent erosion control, traffic control signs, pavement marking, structure replacement and all incidental items necessary to complete the work. 

H. James & Sons, Incorporated of Fennimore has been awarded a $6,458,359.00 contract to construct the 2.32-mile-long project.  The project is funded by the Surface Transportation Program (Local) and Monroe County.  Preliminary work including right-of-way clearing has been completed by the Highway Department.  The project design was completed by Jewell Associates Engineers of Spring Green and was funded by Monroe County.
